Gippsland - "Chefs
of Gippsland" dinner 3rd
September 2005 featured the Glen Isla signature dish (Blue
Mountain Creek Free-Range Egg Creme Brulee) from the
Glen Isla Table D'Hôte menu.. Featuring only chefs from
Gippsland, this event showcased Gippsland produce in the
special menu for the evening, matched with local Gippsland
wines. This was a regional event of
the Melbourne
Food and Wine Festival "Taste of Slow" conducted
by Slow Food Gippsland Convivia.

an exclusive Wine Maker’s “Grand Island Indulgence”
dinner as part of the Gippsland Slow Food Summer Festival for

a magnificent 5 course dinner matched with carefully selected

Winter Festival 2004
Glen Isla House hosted another Slow Food "Grand Island Indulgence Dinner" in August
2004. The theme of the evening - "Back to the
heart of Perugia" with Chef Martin drawing on his
experiences at University Sapori in Perugia where he studied Italian Cuisine
and Produce in 2002.

Charity Day at Glen Isla

Red Cross
Charity Day 2005 and 2006
Glen Isla House opened the magnificent heritage
gardens and provided Devonshire Teas for an Australian
Red Cross charity fundraiser in aid of Austyralian Red Cross.
Resident chef Martin Baker baked scones, and the
family donated all food and time for the day along with a
overnight B&B stay which was raffled on the day.
Some 300 visitors came and enjoyed the sunny afternoon and Devonshire
Teas served by volunteers from Phillip Island Red Cross. Over
AUD$3,000 was raised for the appeal in 2005 and just over
$1000 was raised in 2006. Watch for the 2007 date!

& Outdoor Living Magazine
June 2006
"Plant
People" features Madeleine and her
passionfruit vines. Lisa Habermann from Gardens and
Outdoor Living visited Glen Isla on her quest for
interesting articles about people and their gardens.
The heritage gardens at Glen Isla date back to 1870, but
more recent additions include the resplendent passionfruit
vine shown in the article here, and a large kitchen herb
garden. The produce from both is used regularly in the
Glen Isla kitchen by chefs Ian & martin and appear on
the menus! The roses from the gardens often adorn the
guest rooms at Glen Isla when they are in bloom also.
